The Copernicus Masters is an international competition which awards prizes to innovative solutions, developments and ideas for business and society based on Earth observation data. Myriad industries and areas of public interest stand to profit from the advances of the Copernicus programme.
AZO has launched the Copernicus Masters in 2011 on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) and with strong support of world-class partners as part of their mission to foster the User Uptake of Copernicus services. The Copernicus Masters has developed into the moving force of promoting cutting-edge solutions. Annually, different prize categories tackle global challenges with revolutionary competition entries in the fields of deep learning, the IoT, big data analytics, smart mobility and industry 4.0 – just to name a few.
THE SPACE OSCARS IN ESTONIA
This year’s Copernicus Masters Awards Ceremony reaches a new high! In line with the 4th Satellite Masters Conference, it will be the highlight of the most important space event this year: the European Space Week in Tallinn, Estonia. Join us and meet pioneering startups and key space stakeholders from all among Europe and beyond!
In the 2017 Copernicus Masters competition, participants were able to choose from various topic-specific challenges. All submitted entries are currently being evaluated by an international expert jury.
Participants had the chance to win prizes with a total value of more than EUR 1.5 MIO. Finalists will be informed soon.
In 2017, the Copernicus Masters challenges and corresponding prizes were awarded by prominent industry and research partners who were searching for innovative solutions to their specific needs based on Earth observation. The format is also intended to encourage joint realisation of the winning idea by the winner and the partner. The topics addressed by the challenges included innovative uses of Earth observation data in field such as digital transport, sustainable development, disaster management, energy and the environment, big data usage, as well as small satellites.
